Why are people seeking Botox or fillers? Persistent wrinkles make you appear tired or angry, when in fact you truly feel neither! A combination of botulinum toxin (e.g. Letybo, Jeuveau aka #NEWTOX, Botox, Dysport, Xeomin) and different fillers (e.g. Lipoderma, Juvederm, Voluma, Volbella, Vollure, Restylane, Refyne, Defyne and Restylane Silk) can work wonders. Botox and fillers restore youthful contours to the face and minimize the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.

How are Botox and fillers different?

Botox is FDA-approved to treat wrinkles in the forehead and crow’s feet (around the sides of the eyes). There are a variety of FDA-approved fillers that restore volume and minimize the deflation seen with age. Each filler has unique properties. Some are designed for injection in deeper planes. Others are injected more superficially. Every face has unique needs, and we have a variety of products available to address them in a predictable fashion with an experienced injector.

Botox and fillers work differently. Botox and Jeuveau are different brands of neurotoxins used at Tannan Plastic Surgery. They paralyze the muscle where injected. The face is so unique because the muscles under our skin create our facial expressions. Sometimes we are unconsciously furrowing our brow. Constant sun exposure combined with lots of smiling can cause those crow’s feet. Botox targets these areas to smoothen those wrinkles. Our experienced injector, under the guidance of Dr. Shruti Tannan, applies neurotoxin carefully to create a natural refreshed look.

Fillers do just that — they fill in the wrinkles. There are a variety of dermal fillers available on the market, like Juvederm, Lipoderma, Voluma, and Restylane, to name a few. Different fillers are used for different locations on your face. Ultimately, they plump up the tissue and fill in the wrinkles. Common target areas are the folds around your nose, mouth and chin. As you can imagine, doing this properly and safely can be quite complicated. We recommend you consult a board certified plastic surgeon with experience, like Dr. Tannan, when seeking these treatments.

What happens during the consultation?

During your consultation, our expert nurse injector will listen to your areas of concern. She will point out parts of your facial aesthetic that are contributing to your concerns. Some of these may seem new to you — don’t be alarmed! Then, she designs a Botox / filler treatment plan specific to you. Sometimes one product is sufficient to treat multiple areas like crow’s feet and brow wrinkles. Other times we may recommend a combination of products to address a persistent frown, wrinkling of chin, and fine lines around the nose and cheek.

It’s not uncommon to explore the benefits of a surgical option for the face, like facelift, brow lift or eyelid surgery. Botox and filler create a temporary result, from 3-4 months (for Newtox or Botox) to 6 months to 2 years (various fillers). Depending on the longevity you desire, you may come in thinking you want Botox and leave realizing you want a more long-lasting result only possible with surgery! That is why partnership with board certified plastic surgeon, Shruti Tannan, is so critical. Dr. Tannan’s expertise includes both nonsurgical and surgical methods of facial rejuvenation. You decide for yourself what suits your needs after an informed discussion.

How Does Botox Work?

What is “brotox?”

It is Botox for men, of course! The use of Botox and fillers in men is increasing rapidly. Men develop unwanted facial wrinkles that affect how they are perceived – just as women do. These wrinkles often result in a tired, aged or angry look in men. Botox is FDA-approved to treat wrinkles in the forehead and around the eyes. Similarly, Dr. Tannan fills in the lines and restore volume to deflated areas with FDA-approved fillers.
